CELEBRATE WITH US

At the last meeting of the Board of Trustees we drew the first winners in our celebration event.  A $25 gift card was awarded to the adult winner and a $20 gift card to our winner in the children's category. 

Stop in to the Library and see who the lucky winners were.  And while you are there, put your name in the box for the next drawing.

CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

This year our building is celebrating its 100 anniversary.  We have some special events in the planning stage.  We will be posting more details as they evolve.

WINTER WEATHER REMINDER

During weather events please be aware that we may not be open during our regular hours.  Before venturing out into the storm, please call to be sure we are here.  Fines will not be charged for items due on a day that we have had to be closed due to weather issues.

WIRELESS ACCESS

Wireless access to the Internet is now available at the Library.

FOOD FOR FINES

The Food for Fines program will be in effect once again this holiday season.  From November 1 - December 14, 2011 you will be able to "pay" your fines by donating nonperishable food items at the library.  Items received will be donated locally to help families in need.

This applies to fines assessed by our Library.  Fines on items owned by other library's must still be paid.  Fines for damaged or lost items must also still be paid.

Please feel free to donate to this collection even if you do not have any fines to pay.  Help make life a little easier for someone in need this holiday season.

Summer Reading

We will once again have a Summer Reading Program for pre-K - Grade 3. This will be held at the Library. Notices will be sent home with school children prior to the end of the school year.

We also support the Tantasqua Junior High and Senior High School summer reading programs. Once school is out, come in early to get your books while we have more from which to choose. Waiting until just before school starts could leave you disappointed.

REMINDER ABOUT WINTER WEATHER

While we make every effort to be open when scheduled, sometimes during winter weather we may find it necessary to not open or to close early. During times of bad weather please take time to call us at 245-3607 and be sure we are open. We would hate to have you driving in inclement weather only to find we are closed.

Summer Reading: Tantasqua

We have received the Summer Reading lists from Tantasqua Junior and Senior High. We have a good variety of the suggested titles but don't wait until the end of the summer to get that reading done. It is hard to anticipate the end of summer as we just begin but the closer we get to the end of the summer the fewer books that are available.

SUMMER READING: Pre-K - Grade 3

Please join us for the 2010 Summer Reading program "Go Green @ your library". This program is designed for Pre-K - Grade 3 and will be held Tuesdays in July - 6, 13, 20 & 27 - from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

There will be stories, crafts and a snack. Pre-register your child at the library during regular open hours.

MOLLY THE OWL & THE OWL BOX

Did you ever wonder what goes on in an owl's nest? Some folks in California put up an owl box and attached a camera to "peek" inside. An owl family has inhabited it. Molly and her mate McGee started their family. Millions of people have been watching as the eggs hatched. Six eggs were laid and four hatched successfully.

With the help of an infrared camera for night viewing there is 24 hour video. It can be somewhat dramatic and/or unpleasant when McGee delivers his catches of the night. But it is an amazing window into nature.

NEW DATE FOR ANNUAL BOOK SALE

The book sale will be held at the library on Saturday, October 17th. This is the same day as the events at the Senior Center so stop in and check out the great used books on your way to the Senior Center.
